The Members
-Steph O'Sullivan on vocals;
-Paul O'Sullivan on guitar.
Their Story...
They are siblings and live in the south of Ireland, in a town called Killarney. They spent years looking for musicians to start a band with, but they never found anyone. One day, they decided to create it themselves because they no longer wanted to waste time waiting. Shortly after, they recorded a demo of their very first song called "Afteroughts" and posted it online. Since that day, the reaction has been crazy and they have had the chance to perform at Reading and Leeds Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Download Festival, Rock Am Ring and have supported You Me At Six, Palaye Royale, Thrice (as the opening band, among others).
About The Name...
Paul has a t-shirt with the names of all the werewolves from Game of Thrones and one day, when they were talking about band names, Steph spotted the name of Gray Wind on his t-shirt. As soon as she said it out loud, they both knew that this name perfectly described the music they were writing. Paul said to combine the words, then Greywind was born!
Anecdote(s)
One of their biggest dreams was to record an album in America and following the reaction to the release of their very first demo "Afteroughts", they had the chance to record their first album in Texas with the Grammy winner producer Jason Perry at Sonic Ranch Studios. Living in a small town in Ireland with no connection to the music industry,
"We're the proof that you can literally achieve anything if you want it badly enough. "
Musical Influences
Growing up, they were inspired by My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, Caspian, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, etc.
Style
They would describe their music as beautiful, dark and emotional. They are strongly influenced by all the classic emo records they listened to when they were younger. But as they got older, they really turned to post-rock. So they like to combine elements of both styles.
“We love beautiful calm moments that can suddenly erupt into heavy emotional parts when you least expect it.”
