Their Story

"Two of us, Gina Marie and Akiko, knew each other as teenagers in the Oakland punk and riotgirl scene. We moved and lived in other cities, mostly New York City. After 15 years, just after returning to Oakland, we met up at a concert and decided to form a band together. Over time and after a few line-up changes, Dylan and then Winter were added."

About The Name

"Our keyboardist at the time had a dream that Ötzi the Mummy was coming to visit him, so we named ourselves after the experience."

"We are currently with Artoffact Records. Also, Akiko has her own record label called Psychic Eye, and Gina Marie has her own record and promotion company called Near Dark."

Anecdotes

"Many critics have called us an all-female band, but there are two things wrong with this: 

 It's incorrect. Akiko is not binary and uses the pronouns "them/they". We are a trans-inclusive group.
