Their Story

"Scarlean was created in 2013, and has undergone many line-up changes. It is in 2016 that Scarlean released its first album recorded and composed by Geo and Alex. After composing this album they are looking for musicians to play it. A few years later the line-up solidifies and becomes the current Scarlean. The album 'Soulmates' was composed and arranged this time with 5 musicians and their different influences. This album had the great privilege to see the incredible singer Anneke Van Giersbergen participating in a track, a completely rearranged cover of the track 'Wonderful Life' by Black. Soulmates' was acclaimed by the press and got a lot of positive reviews. A new album is scheduled for September 2022 with lots of surprises for this year of return to normal!"

About The Name

"It's a combination of two words, "Scar" for the scar and "Lean" which means, dry, thin... It represents the wounds of life that never completely disappear. Scarlean is often about the journey of a life, the different emotional aspects of it. We use our character 'the Ghost' to write our lyrics through his eyes. A way to get a different perspective and push the writing."

"They are very wide, they go from hiphop to metal, passing by electro, jazz, funk, groove, classic, trip-hop. There is no limit to our influences. It would take too long to name bands!"

Anecdote(s)

"We dreamed of doing a track one day with Anneke Van Giersbergen. We were very fond of 'The Gathering', we sent her an email the day after a drunken rehearsal party to ask her to participate in one of our songs and the answer was positive the same day! A great moment for us, and a memory that will remain forever engraved in our memories and on our album 'Soulmates'."

"A school used one of our lyrics for an English class. Scarlean is very poetic and colorful but still raw in his lyrics. We were incredibly surprised by the analysis they made of the title. It was very close to the meaning we had wanted to give it, a great moment of sharing and a great tolerance and open-mindedness of their teacher. Because the text was about global education and the way we format minds. Class."
