The Ugly Kings
The Members
Russell Clark (vocalist) and Christos Athanasias (guitarist) are the two original members. Nicolas Dumont (bassist) joined the band in 2014 and Joel Martin (drummer) joined in 2019.
"We are probably the most multicultural band possible. We're based in Melbourne, Russell is from New Zealand, Christos from Greece, Nic from France and Joel from Queensland, Australia."

Their Story
"Rusty and Christos met on a film set in 2007. At the time we were playing acoustic covers with Christos and Dan on guitar and Rusty on vocals and drums. Later we switched to electric and Ryan joined the band on drums, making Rusty a full time leader. Dan left shortly after leaving Christos to experiment with sound and several amp setups. In 2014, Nic saw us play at the place he worked, fell in love with the band and it turned out we were looking for a bass player and we brought him in and never looked back. Since then, we've had Two Headed Dog drummer Andy Alkemade tapping the beat for us for a few years and as of 2019, an old friend of ours and powerhouse drummer Animal Joel joined the band when Ryan moved on to other ventures."

The band recently signed with Napalm Records.
About The Name
"Our former guitarist Dan looked up the names Russell and Christos in Urban Dictionary and the rest is history. Since then, he has remained loyal to us because he represents our music perfectly."

Anecdote(s)
"Nic is a big fan of the Australian band Airbourne and moved from France to Melbourne a few years ago to check out the music scene. Long story short, he joined The Ugly Kings, got to know Airbourne and in 2017, The Ugly Kings supported Airbourne on their "Breakin 'Outta Hell" Australian tour. Talk about a dream come true!"
