Her story

Mila Phoenix was born in Paris in 1985. She moved at the age of 9 to a small town in the countryside in the 77 (Seine-et-Marne).

An only child and loner, she found refuge in music and drawing and was obsessed with them. Raised only by her mother, for whom it was not always easy and who fell ill when she was still very young, she sees music as her outlet and locks herself up in her room for hours on end to listen to all kinds of music with all the fascination she can feel for it.

About The Name

"Mila Phoenix was born when someone dear to me died. I invented a character for myself, often dressed in paper, and in love with freedom."

Musical Influences

"I always loved listening to soul music from the 60's and 70's; Etta James, Minnie Ripperton, Otis Redding, The Temptations... To name a few, I also listened to Kate Bush a lot, who totally fascinated me. One day Jeff Buckley changed my life and then I discovered Nirvana and Radiohead, bands like Portishead, The Cardigans, Blur or Massive Attack who were pioneers in their field; they mixed musical genres and put forward electro in a very classy and unconventional way."

Anecdote(s)

Her mother once explained to her that at 1 and a half years old, she had found her listening to a vinyl on headphones that she had turned on by herself. Coincidence or sign of destiny?
