His Story

Da Soul Jam, whose real name is Jules Adet, is a guitarist and singer born in 2002.
He started music in 8th grade when he met a teacher who made him love music. Before that, he had never touched an instrument in his life. So he started playing drums because it was the only instrument he had. At the end of 9th grade year he started playing the guitar. Until 10th grade, he only knew how to play a few chords but he really worked much more on his technical game during his passage in 11th grade. You should know that he never took a music lesson. He always learned everything on his own. He works by ear and follows some youtubers who bring him a little theoretical baggage. The taste for creation arrived during this first year when he started to make covers of songs he liked. By doing concerts in high school, he discovered what it was like to communicate his emotions and feelings to an audience that is there to listen. Since the day he tasted it, he tries to give more of himself and give them the best that he is, whether in electronic format with the music he puts online or live!

About The Name

At the start he wanted to opt for his nickname "Nouilles Au Curry » (Noodles With Curry), but "Da Soul Jam" seemed to him more in keeping with his project, a little more professional. His girlfriend's mother is the one who found it! He was looking for an anagram of "Jules ADET DE MATTEO" and she offered him "Da Soul Jam Tee Tee", to which he offered to remove the "Tee Tee" and that's it!

Anecdote(s)

"The fact that I learned everything on my own and I really like to experiment and communicate. About anecdotes, I asked for an exemption between 11th and 12th grade to be able to follow a course of Literary (12th grade) year with music class to have a theoretical background a little more deepened and to try great schools thereafter. I am very determined to make it my job !! "

Musical Influences

He is very influenced by urban music, especially US RAP which he says is the genre that innovates the most. He is thinking in particular of Kendrick Lamar or the artist Joji. In terms of voice, it's Soul that makes him crazy. He is a big fan of Her (especially of singer Victor Solf). He really likes rock and its energy. He really likes the bands Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana (he is a big fan of Kurt Cobain). He also really likes funk musicians like the band Vulfpeck. And finally he loves the Polyphia project; this is a band that mixes several genres (metal, pop, we find trap, and lots of others...) especially the guitarist Lead Tim HENSON who is (for him) the best guitarist of the generation.
